Hi, I'm Jake.
In 2016 I had a double lung transplant at the University of Washington, giving me a new lease on life for the last five years.
Unfortunately, I started going through organ rejection in September of 2021 when I first noticed I was getting winded from things that used to be much easier. As a result, I have gone from 83% lung capacity to 15% and require full-time oxygen.
Because of my health, I have been unable to work since mid-October, leaving us a single-income household in the already difficult times we're all already in.
While I'm lucky enough to have a fantastic circle of friends and family that have supported my wife (Ali) and me financially, emotionally and nutritionally (as odd as that sounds) this next step in this journey is a bit too large to rely on the same group for.
Finally considered for another Lung Transplant from UW, Ali and I have to move back down to the Seattle area for this to happen. Ali has a job lined up, I was approved for disability, and we're closing in on an apartment, but moving (especially from Alaska) can add up costs.
With that, we are asking for your help to make this process easier.
Any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated and will go towards things such as beds and furniture for our new place and gas and food in that awkward period between Ali's current job and her new one.
If you'd like to send money directly rather than going through gofundme, is a link to my PayPal (which is connected to our bank account).
I know times are tough for everyone, with gas prices, Covid, and shipping issues, but I can't thank you enough for what you can give.
