Near-Death Crash: Help the Woodruff-Justice Family Recover

Help the Woodruff/Justice Family Heal After a Miraculous Survival

I'm Eric Jeffords, uncle to Kim Woodruff and Dan Justice’s blended family of five children—Karleigh (17), Reid (10), Kylie (9), and two older siblings who were not in the vehicle at the time of the crash—who were struck by tragedy in a catastrophic car accident on July 21, 2025, at the intersection of Hwy 49 and Low Bridge/Eastern Randolph Rd in North Carolina. Kim, a devoted mother, was driving when a truck ran a red light and T-boned their SUV without braking. The vehicle flipped multiple times. Onlookers rushed to help, unsure if Kim or Kylie had survived.

Kim sustained seven broken ribs, a punctured spleen, three ruptured or bulging vertebrae, three broken teeth, impaired breathing, memory loss, and ongoing organ damage. She remains hospitalized on oxygen, morphine, and IVs. Kylie, age 9, was airlifted to UNC in a coma on life support. Miraculously, she is now conscious, showing early signs of recovery—including assisted steps and limb movement—with upcoming scans to assess brain injury. Karleigh and Reid, who suffered concussions, were initially discharged but may require further treatment.

With no savings, Medicaid coverage still uncertain, and Dan out of work to care for the family, their needs are immense. Monthly living costs, and additional out-of-pocket medical expenses are mounting. Estimates have currently placed a recommended $144,000 GoFundMe goal to help cover essential expenses, medical bills, and long-term recovery support.

While Medicaid may eventually help with some medical costs, that process takes time and doesn’t cover everything - especially long-term therapy, transportation, equipment, follow-ups, and day-to-day needs.

This fundraiser helps bridge the gap during this uncertain time—supporting the family’s basic living expenses, recovery costs, and temporary lost income. We are committed to using these funds responsibly, and every dollar will go toward easing their path forward. Your support means so much more than money—it’s hope, stability, and breathing room.

This resilient family is deeply grateful for your prayers, the selfless first responders, bystanders, and medical professionals who have helped save lives and provide hope. Their story was featured by Fox News 8 and can be viewed here:
