My name is Sydney Rutland, I'm 17 years old, and my mom's name is Sharlene. Sharlene is an amazing mother of six children, three spouses and one grandchild, whom she loves and cares so much about.
On June 27, 2018, she started to become dizzy and collapsed unconscious in the shower. She was rushed to the hospital where we found out she had a large tumor growing in her brain. We found out after an emergency surgery that she has a Stage 4 Glioblastoma Brian Cancer.
This type of cancer is extremely aggressive and will grow back despite surgery and treatment. This means it will never go away.
She now has a long and hard road ahead of her as does our entire family of 8. She begins chemotherapy and radiation this week.
This has dramatically changed our lives and while we had noticed her severe headaches and memory loss over the last few months, we could have never seen this coming.
Unfortunately, my family does not have medical insurance and we are asking for your help. There's no easy way to put it other than she's dying and we need your help to extend her life as long as possible. She wants to be part of our lives and to see her grandchildren grow up, but we don't know how long she has if we can't afford the treatment.
