Empower women in Tanzania

At Give a Heart to Africa, we believe in the power of education to change lives. We are a passionate, volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free, one-year educational program to adult women in Tanzania. Starting every January, over 50 determined women embark on a journey of learning, gaining skills in English, business, and vocational training. Our classes are taught by a diverse team of international volunteers and former GHTA graduates, creating a community of empowerment and shared knowledge.

Since our founding, we’ve proudly educated more than 1,000 women and helped launch 32 small businesses—including four cooperatives—offering graduates a tangible path toward financial independence.

Why does education matter? It’s more than just learning; it’s about choice. Education equips women with the tools to build the lives they envision for themselves and their families. It opens doors to better jobs, higher incomes, further education, and improved living standards. Above all, it empowers women with the freedom to make their own decisions.

GHTA operates solely on volunteer fees and donations. Every dollar donated goes directly to our school and students—no overhead, no administrative costs. Our organization is 100% volunteer-powered, including our Executive Director and Canadian Board of Directors.
