A 3-Year-Old Shouldn’t Be Fighting Cancer—But Elijah Is

Donation protected

Elijah Taylor is a joyful, curious 3-year-old who loves cars, trucks (especially garbage trucks), and spotting water towers wherever he goes. Just one month before his third birthday, Elijah’s life changed forever when he was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare childhood cancer that develops in the retina of the eye.

Instead of celebrating his birthday without a care in the world, Elijah began a journey no child should ever have to face.

Since his diagnosis, Elijah has bravely completed 4 out of 6 chemotherapy treatments, with each round requiring a two-day hospital stay. He has handled more than most adults ever will, showing strength far beyond his years.

Despite these aggressive treatments, doctors have determined that because of the high risk of the cancer returning and the loss of vision in his eye, Elijah will need to undergo surgery to remove his eye in order to protect his life. While this decision is heartbreaking, it is necessary to give Elijah the best chance at a healthy future.

After surgery, Elijah will face an 8-week healing period before he can be fitted for his first prosthetic eye. As he grows, Elijah will need to be fitted for a new prosthetic eye approximately every two years, creating ongoing medical and financial needs for his family.

Beyond the emotional toll, Elijah’s family is facing mounting challenges—medical bills not fully covered by insurance, repeated hospital stays, travel to and from treatment, time away from work, and the long-term costs associated with prosthetic care and follow-up appointments.

Funds raised through this campaign will help support:

  • Medical expenses related to chemotherapy, surgery, and follow-up care

  • Hospital stays, travel, and recovery needs

  • Prosthetic eye fittings and future replacements

  • Household expenses so Elijah’s family can focus on his care and healing

Elijah is still the same little boy who gets excited about big trucks and water towers—but now he’s also a fighter. Your support helps ensure that his story continues to be one of resilience, healing, and hope.

Even with insurance, Elijah’s medical journey comes with significant ongoing expenses. These include hospital stays for chemotherapy, surgery, prosthetic eye fittings every two years as he grows, frequent specialist visits, and long-term monitoring to ensure the cancer does not return. Insurance does not cover everything—especially prosthetics, travel, and time away from work—leaving his family with substantial out-of-pocket costs that will continue for years.

If you are able to donate, share this page, or keep Elijah and his family in your thoughts and prayers, every act of kindness makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for standing with Elijah during this incredibly difficult time.
