Clark County Marshall Cancer Aid
My name is Jake Crank and I am starting this GoFundMe campaign as an absolute last resort. The man you see in this photograph is my father Billy Crank Jr. My dad was born on the Fort Meade Army base in Maryland where my Grandfather Billy Crank Sr. was stationed. The family moved to Las Vegas in 1969 and my father graduated from Clark High School. After school, my father began working in the Automotive industry. Over the years, he met great friends who shared his love for cars. In 2010 my father achieved his real dream job in life and became a Clark County Court Marshall here in Clark County. My father was one of the oldest Marshalls to go through the Academy with guys and girls half his age. This speaks to my fathers strength. In May of 2014 we lost my grandfather, Billy Crank Sr. All of the grandkids called him Papa. This took a huge toll on our family and was incredibly hard on my father because he had now lost both of his parents. In November 2014 my father began experiencing chest pains, eventually admitting himself to the Emergency room. They found that there was fluid built up in his left lung. They drained the lung and removed over a liter of fluid. They also found a large mass inside the lung. They sent him home with follow up orders. They ordered a biopsy weeks later that came back inconlclusive. On February 21, 2015 he began experiencing pain in his chest and now his stomach. He admitted himself again to the hospital. This time, they drained the fluid that had built back up and ordered a second biopsy. On February 27, 2015 my father recieved the biopsy results. The Doctors informed him that he had Stage 4 Sarcoma Cancer in both his Lung and Abdomen area. They have estimated he had only three months to live and released him from the hospital stating there is nothing they can do to help him as they do not specialize in his rare cancer. My father has used all of his Catostrophic Pay provided by the County and is not receiving any financial assistance to cover his care or living expenses while he is not working. We contacted Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Arizona but they told us that the insurance he had through the Clark County Marshalls Office is not accepted. We are trying to raise money to cover flying my father out to the other cancer treatment center and help with his living expenses. Hopefully they can remove the cancer, as I have read similar success stories from other cancer survivors. We are looking for hope. All five of his children and his wife need him. He is our father, a great man, and a public servant. Please find it in your heart to help, as our family would do the same for yours. Thank you and God Bless
