I am reaching out today on behalf of a friend, Sofia Gomez Villafane. Sofia has been chosen to represent the US at the World Championships in the U-23 category. This past weekend, she rode to a National Championship in the Collegiate Div I category and a Silver medal two days later in the U-23 category.
Sofia is a student at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Co. She will be graduating in May with a degree in exercise science and a minor is Business Administration.
Today, I am asking for the community to help get her to the World Championships this year. She is currently in Denver obtaining an expedited Passport, her parents are going to cover her airfare which leaves her short $1,600. Your donation will help her with getting her bikes to Europe, lodging and food at the USA Cycling accommodations. Anything helps and urgent response is needed as we have to have her final decision into USA Cycling by Friday at noon.
