Hello, my name is Shirley, and I'm fundraising to help Hawa a brave and wonderful 34-year-old from The Gambia, as she battles a life-threatening illness.
Since early 2023, Hawa has been struggling with serious health challenges. Despite seeking help multiple times at her local hospital, no clear diagnosis was made. Determined to find answers and treatment, she travelled to Dakar, Senegal, where doctors discovered a cancerous tumour in her liver. Now, she urgently needs life-saving chemotherapy and radiotherapy that is not available in her home country, The Gambia.. Without urgent treatment, the cancer could spread to other parts of her body.
The Treatment She Needs
Doctors at the specialist hospital in Dakar have recommended a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy - her best chance to stop the cancer from spreading and improve her chances of survival.
