Reese's medical funds

Unfortunately the vet bills have piled up and I'm in desperate need for help.

On the March 28th I woke up to the sound of my five month old Chihuahua terrier screaming, when I ran into the living room I found our dining table chair on the ground; I could only guess our German Shepherd Nikita was playing with our puppy Reese, and accidentally knocked over a chair which inevitably fell on him.

I immediately brought him onto my bed and found that the source of his pain was somewhere near his mouth - I managed to pull his lip back to check his teeth, but he would scream if I attempted to open his mouth. I rushed him to Care Animal Hospital in Redding CA, where they sedated him and took X-Rays that showed he had a fracture in his jaw, just below his ear. Since this was a smaller hospital and they weren't qualified for any type of surgery, they referred us to VCA Animal Hospital. Unfortunately the Care Animal Hospital still billed us for the sedation and the consultation, which ended up being $125 out of pocket.

Thankfully VCA was able to take him in and give us the scoop that very day. Since Reese is still a puppy, they didn't believe surgery is needed, as his bones are still soft and any type of nail and plate they'd surgically put in would not hold. So, they gave Reese back to us with a muzzle, a cone, and some medicine to take. The idea was to keep the muzzle on for about a month, and the jaw bone should heal itself

Unfortunately this was not the end of it. Reese slept on my bed the whole night, but the next morning when I took his muzzle off to feed him, he began screaming and violently throwing himself around. My father was able to help me hold and calm him down for about 10 minutes, until I was able to put the muzzle back on him. He was incredibly trauamitized by this, so of course I called the Vet and they asked us to bring him back.

The next day they gave us back to him with more medicine and proper instructions. He needs to take Neurotonin 3 times a day ( this acts as his pain reliever medicine ) and Fortiflora once a day, as he has started having diarrhea. He also needs to take Metacam once a day, once his diarrhea has subsided. Thankfully spending the night at the Vet did him wonders, and it was almost a miracle to see that he was able to walk around and wag his tail.

Currently Reese is home with us and we're happy to see that he's not in pain. The Neotonin he's taking makes it so he's able to eat the Urgent Care wet dog food the vet gave us, which was something he couldn't do without yelping in pain.

Although we're happy to see him in a better state of mind, going to two different animal hospitals and getting him sedated twice in one day, along with having him boarded at the vet overnight has really added up. Everything has totaled $627.41, not including the food and other small expenses.

Reese means the world to me and my parents, and it would mean even more to see him get better. We'd be so thankful for any donation, no matter how small. Thank you so much for reading.
