Who Is Girl Code?
Team "Girl Code" from Newton County Theme School is an all girls middle school robotics team who competes in Vex Robotics Competitions. During this year's season, they have very successfully competed in four county competitions. At every competition, they earned an award, which is both rare and difficult to achieve. The various awards they have received are: Teamwork Award, Design Award, STEM Reasearch Award, and the Overall Excellence Award! Some of these awards were earned multiple times throughout the season! These awards qualified them to compete at the state level. By the time the state competition arrived in February, they had pre-qualified seven times over! At the Georgia state level competition, they earned the title Georgia State Champions in the area of STEM Research. This award qualifies them to compete at the Vex Worlds Competition in Kentucky on April 23rd-25th!
For their research topic, they chose to reasearch "How Robotics Assists People With Disabilities" because they are so passionate about using their knowledge to help others. They designed and built a robotic prosthetic hand! How awesome is that?
Help These Girls Get To Worlds!
The girls are so excited that their hard work has paid off and have earned their spot to compete on the world stage to represent girls in STEM across Georgia and the US! The trip to Worlds is very expensive and this is where you come in! The team will have to raise funds for competition fees, uniforms, and travel expenses. If you love to see young girls working together in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, please consider supporting this team!
I have had the pleasure of mentoring these girls this year and it has been a true joy. They are kind, determined, creative, intelligent and inspirational young women!! This trip is so very important to the girls. They set a goal at the beginning of the season to work hard and make it to Worlds! They have done their part, but just need a little extra help getting there. Please consider investing to make their dream a reality!
Any funds raised over and above our goal will be used for new robot parts and next year's competition season.
