NCS - Outdoor Credit Recovery Adventure Program
Tax deductible
Network Charter School is a school that provides education for primarily at-risk middle and high school students using an interdisciplinary and hands-on curriculum in small classes (15 or fewer students per class). We connect our students with non-profits in our community, introducing them to a wide array of local initiatives which focus on sustainability, equity and human potential.
One of our most successful programs is our Outdoor Credit Recovery Adventure Program (cheekily named O.C.R.A.P.) In the last year, students at Network Charter School have summited mountains, snowshoed, hiked to waterfalls, played in the ocean, met Smokey the Bear, questioned narratives, challenged their minds, braved high ropes courses, and crawled through caves.
These outdoor activities have increased student engagement, aided in the development of social and collaborative skills, and provided countless opportunities for discovery, creativity, and problem-solving. Students have earned credit for graduation and some have completely eradicated lost credit from COVID school closures. In addition, this outdoor learning has had huge benefits on students' mental health, fostering new friendships and academic performance in the classroom.
These amazing opportunities have been paid for through a grant. Unfortunately, this year's grant has been less than expected and several activities will have to be cut. However, with your generosity, we might be able to change that! If we can reach our goal, all of our programs will be fully funded and no cuts to the program will be needed. Any donations are highly appreciated.
Thank you!
