NCS Education Fundraiser for Dave's Children

On April 25, 2021, New Canaan Society lost a dear brother in Christ. David Zuidema passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart attack shortly after an afternoon jog at a local park. He was a major influence and faithful presence at both the Bergen County and Paterson Chapters of NCS and spent about 15 years as the Administrator for NCS Bergen County facilitating communications, events, and morning meetings. The NCS brotherhood was a very special part of his life and helped him to forge deeper relationships with other men and with Christ. In appreciation for Dave’s years of membership and service, NCS leadership in Northern NJ wanted to provide an opportunity to help support the family and has set up a GoFundMe page for his family’s benefit. The intention of any funds raised will be to support the education of Dave’s three children; John, Matthew, & Sylvia. Dave’s Obituary:

Born in Paterson on August 15, 1969 to William H. and Joyce Zuidema (nee Klapmust), he lived in North Haledon his whole life. David worked in government and mission-focused nonprofits throughout his career. When his children were born he became a stay-at-home dad and developed a freelance career in writing, digital design and technology support. David had a special gift of making people laugh and think deeply. He was an avid reader of the Bible. He had a passion to serve the church and the community, and taught Sunday School and Bible studies for many years. He loved his brothers in The New Canaan Society. David attended Emergence Church in Totowa and was a former member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church where he served as a Deacon and narrated many Live Nativity productions. Most important to him was serving his faithful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and learning to live his faith authentically.

Devoted father of John, Matthew and Sylvia.

Loving brother of William & Debra Zuidema, Sharon & Ben Spoelstra, and Kenneth Zuidema.

Loving son-in-law to Martina & Russel Hyma, and beloved brother in-law to Arlette & Albert Hepp, Sandra & Douglas Feldman, and Suzanne & Steve Van Ek.
