Free Legal Help for Canadians: COVID-19 Relief

Thousands of Canadians urgently need immediate legal help. Small business owners, freelancers, trades workers, farmers, artists, and professionals are struggling. Really struggling.
People need legal support, expert direction, and reliable guidance. People need help with reneged or about to be broken contracts, leases, loans, mortgages, lapsed or pending permits, employment rights, and a myriad of complex legal obligations. The list is endless.
That’s why we’re calling on you to urgently help us fund and launch a Canada-wide not-for-profit National Canadian Lawyers Initiative, which seeks to provide free legal advice and law services to those most in need as a result of the pandemic and economic shut down.
Our mission is to staff a virtual law platform that will connect law students and lawyers with seasoned legal professionals, who can together provide urgently needed legal advice and guidance to those in need as a result of COVID-19 shutdown.
Here’s how we will help support people who are most affected by this pandemic:
- Sort out the options and issues in real-time, referencing the law and consequences.
- Inform and guide those most at risk; a triage approach to tackle the most urgent problems first.
- Provide guidance on best options for conflict resolution.
- Develop solutions for lenders and landlords and contract partners to preserve and help small businesses.
We are all in this together, solutions need to work for everyone. For every stakeholder.
While we are reaching out to federal, provincial and municipal governments, foundations, national law firms, and the private sector for assistance and funding, we urgently need public support NOW to get started to help save the livelihoods of those closest to you: Community.
It’s up to us to save the businesses and people that make up the fabric of our lives.
