This year will see the biggest class of fashion design graduates that NCAD has ever educated. The fashion show is the platform through which we showcase the results of our degree work. The 2016 show is set to be one of the most exciting in terms of creative input and production. This year it will be in an unconventional secret location in the city centre!
We need to raise funds to cover the costs of models, lighting, sound, seat rental, stage and production staff. We will also need to pay for a photographer and videographer to document the event. The funds raised will also cover the cost of a catalogue presented at the fashion show.
The National College of Art and Design in Dublin has produced some of the most exciting designers in fashion, boasting such alumni as Simone Rocha, Philip Treacy, Orla Kiely and Alan Taylor. With the Year of Irish Design just behind us, it is evident that design has become one of Ireland's strongest industries. If you support this campaign you can consider yourself a patron of Irish fashion – a most exciting and influential endeavor!
NCAD has flourished creatively despite extreme funding cuts in the last few years – up to 44% has been cut by the HEA. Throughout the adversity, we have managed to advance to 68th in the top 100 QS World Art and Design College rankings. This is up 5 places from last year. Very importantly our ranking on the 'Academic Reputation' criterion is 40th in the world, up 8 places from last year. The work ethic instilled in NCAD students is still the best in the country. Please help us make the most of all our hard work and determination. And come see our 32 collections walk the runway on the 10th of May!
