Toto is a Fighter!

Toto showed up Sunday night as I was getting off work. It was raining and he was wet. His fur was matted. He was a pitiful sight!
I couldn't just leave him there! We are only about 200 yards from busy Interstate 81.
It was 11:30PM and I had no idea where this guy came from. Actually, I called HIM a HER for three days because he was so matted I couldn't tell! He had an upper respiratory infection and I was quite sure his mouth was sore. And I can't forget the fleas! He was LOADED!
When I got home I immediately posted a few pictures, the location he found me, etc. I had a couple of hits where someone nearby had lost a Siamese, but no-one could find that post. I had MANY compliments on how beautiful he is and a couple of offers to take him. I wanted to give his parents a chance to find their furbaby first. I know how heartbroken I would be!!
He had a LOT of trouble eating and drinking. I tried to shave the matted fur, but I'm not a groomer by any stretch of the imagination and I was scared to stress him too much as he was weak already.
By Wednesday morning I couldn't handle waiting for his parents to claim him. After I get shaved him it was obvious he was a lot thinner than I originally thought. I made the decision to take him to the vet.
Back up for a second. In the Spring I had found three kittens that were orphans and bottle raised them. When they were about 6 weeks old, I got a call to rescue a kitten from under a seafood truck that sits on the main road. She was about four weeks old. Last week they were all spayed and neutered with help from the Shenandoah County Humane Society. They have been AMAZING through the years in helping with my rescues! And on that note, I really didn't want to go back begging so soon.
Ok, back to the present. I took her to the vet on Wednesday morning. I found out the SHE was HE, and he was only about five years old. He has an upper respiratory infection and Plasma Cell Stomatitis. He will need to have ALL his teeth extracted! Before even starting the medical journey I reached out to another rescue that has helped my in the past, Furry Friends in Woodstock, VA. I want going to do ANYTHING until I had a very good indication that I could raise the money.
This is it:
First thing is a Combo Test for FIV/FeLV and heartworm. While waiting for these results Robin, grin Furry Friends, and I lit up the phone lines. She found some angels working to donate as did I. I put out another Facebook post begging people to help me save this little guy's life! He is SUCH a sweetie! And only 5! We were getting positive reactions from more angels!
All the tests were negative!! I'm so happy for that and the angels!
I asked the doctor then to start treating him so he's been treated for fleas and we've started him on antibiotics, steroids and pain medication. He started eating and drinking immediately!!
I have my own outstanding (very large) vet bills that my vet, very generosity, let's me make payments on., So I just can't do this myself. And I'm not sure why, but this guy is a fighter and he's pulled my heartstrings. When I first heard the estimate I just drove Toto to the river and he explored while I cried.
I have added today's visit to my own bill.
I am pleading for all the help I can get. I am now certain that someone dumped him out because of his medical bills. I want to help this baby. Will you help me help him?
