Connor's story is both heartbreaking and important to tell. Connor had a voice by way of his non-verbal cues such as behaviours, gestures, photos, symbols, and the proloquo2go app on his ipad. People had to use their eyes more than their ears to listen to him.

Sadly, his non-verbal cues were not noticed and he passed away at the age of 24 on the 26th February 2025..

Connor was trying to communicate, to get attention because he was in pain and suffering and needed help, and the only way he could try was by hitting himself in the way he had never done before. No one listened and tragically his non verbal cues were not actioned upon.

My aim of Connor's Voice is to raise awareness of how some people with a learning difficulty are treated, to teach and spread learning to understand what can and must be done to hopefully stop what happened to Connor happening to another individual and their family.

Along the way, I wish to raise money to help families access communication aids such as iPads with talking apps, Makaton training, pecs, and switch devices and provide communication workshops.

The Proloquo2go app for Connor changed his life. It was a way he could communicate and make choices about who he wanted to see, what he wanted to do, and where he wanted to go. Having the app alleviated a lot of his distress and frustration.

Your much appreciated donation will go towards aiding communication, sharing awareness and learning, supporting individuals and families living with a learning difficulty, and sharing Connors' story as far and wide as we are able to. We will be doing this by way of a new website which is www.connorsvoice.org.uk, communication workshops and presentations.

In the future my hope is to become a charity to continue to raise funds to spread awareness of non-verbal cues and purchase communication aids for people who would benefit from them.

To do nothing was never an option for me because Connor was my teacher and he can't have died in vain so I vow in his name I will still be his voice so he can continue to have an impact like he always did.

Every penny donated will help others, and I will always be transparent on when and how the money will be spent.
