Ryan Libbey is a special boy made up entirely of love, laughter, and kindness. Ryan is developmentally delayed, has dealt with Crohn's disease, an autism diagnosis, Helsmoortel-Van Der Aa Syndrome (a genetic mutation of the ADNP gene), multiple bowel and intestinal issues, and chronic pain from most of these things. He survived heart surgery as an infant, retinal surgery, bowel obstructions and intestinal surgery. He was in the hospital since the beginning of 2020 and was able to experience “home” for a very short period of time before acquiring a major blood infection. This most recent infection has brought this amazing fighter to heaven’s gate. This infection cannot be treated due to complications, and the medical team has shifted to comfort care for him.

 

His Mom has been dealing with all of this on her own. The love of her life passed away in May 2020 of a heart condition while in the same hospital as Ryan. He provided an unconditional love and the strength to support them both through all of the challenges they were faced with. A true guardian angel in every sense of the word, with even more meaning today.

 

This GoFundMe is to help Ryan’s mom. She has been out of work so that she can be by Ryan’s side (a lot over the past two years, but especially right now). This effort is to help offset the financial burden of travel, hotel expenses,  health insurance and necessities while she has no income.
