Help Adham and his family escape the Gaza war

Hi,
Thank you so much for clicking on this fundraiser.
I’m Jem Abulhawa, a British Palestinian, and I’m creating this on behalf of one of my best friends, Adham Haisami.
Adham, and many more of my friends, are currently trapped in Gaza, friends that have no real safe place to shelter and have faced more than 5 months of indiscriminate bombing, losing loved ones and their homes, memories, at the hands of the Israeli occupation and ongoing genocide.
When I think of the start, I remember Adham’s wonderful spirit and energy emanating from the screen, an application recording for our Yalla Cooperative apprenticeship where he recounted dreams of strengthening his love for code, his need to see a different view, his love for the sea and diving, for making flippers and for exploring places beyond Gaza’s walls and borders.
I’ve never met someone so fearlessly and tirelessly work towards their goals, someone who cares deeply for his family/sisters. Someone who is always making opportunities, applying for scholarships abroad and trying to better his and his family’s life. Our long calls, watch parties and too-competitive chess matches are cherished memories for me. We’d joke that he’d come to the UK one day, to Birmingham, because he loves Peaky Blinders (TOMMY).
Here is his message:
“This is me, and as it is clear from the picture I was so full of satisfaction and gratitude.
This floor I was standing on is my apartment with its scenic view. Actually, I bought two adjacent apartments, because I love spacious spaces. I paid everything I had, and I borrowed from my friend to complete its first installment. I agreed with an engineer on design to be on the new classic. The occupation destroyed my dream apartment before I completed its finishing and installments, and killed my dear friend before I gave him his money back.
I lost my apartment, my work, and my friend because of the war on Gaza.
I am now stuck here, inside Gaza, I do not know if there is hope that I feel satisfied and grateful again, but I am sure there is nothing to compensate everything I lost in the last 6 months.
What I try to do now is to get out with my family in order to find a safer place first, then I can search for work to start my life again.”

Right now, the only way out of Gaza and to safety is $6000 per adult and $3000 for children. For him and his family - Mum, dad, 5 sisters, 4 children - a total of 8 adults and 4 children - he needs $60,000 (around £49,000 with fees), a huge sum of money.
All money raised will go towards Adham and his family's travel crossing and logistical fees through the Egyptian Rafah border to get out of Gaza before the Rafah bombing intensifies.
Any amount of contribution would be extremely appreciated by him, his family and me. Thank you so much for your generosity.
All I want for my best friend is to heal from the horrors he’s been forced to face, to see the new view he has longed for, to go on the adventures we planned - camping trips and trekking up mountain trails, deep sea dives and train rides around Europe and beyond - and start to rebuild.
I’m sending all my love to Adham and to all my friends in Gaza who are suffering right now. You’re in my heart and prayers, always. Ramadan Kareem.
Thank you so much for reading.
