Providing opportunities can help manifest and bring about a dynamic change in a student's life.
Hello,
My name is Tracey Battle and I am the 9th grade English teacher at West Charlotte High School. My students are in completion of a novel study on The Color of Water by James McBride. As students read this novel they are able to witness various civil rights and human rights issues that were faced in the early to mid-1900. We have been able to draw connections of how these issue can affect us today and how we can be the change in our communities.
At the completion of our study it is my desire to take students on a field trip to Atlanta to visit The Center for Civil and Human Rights as well as a college tour. Opportunities like this are rarely offered and providing this trip will be a defining moment that my students will never forget. This real world application would be ideal for students to witness and learn therefore, I am raising money for this to be possible on March 26, 2016.
I know its short notice and I appreciate your patience, anything you are able to donate will be helpful. Some students are not able to afford the trip so this campaign is to help sponsor those students.
It is important that we invest in our students as they would in turn invest in themselves and their communities. I am extremely grateful and honored if you’re able to help my students in this major way, any donation amount will be appreciated.
Thanks so much for all you do!
Ms. Battle
