Aloha my name is Moani. I am trying to raise money for my mother Kelsy (Cockett) Pomroy.
In the beginning of December my mom was admitted into Queens Medical Center diagnosed with Osteomyelitis, which is a rare infection in the bone that only 1 out of 10,000 people get. She had the infection in her 3rd and 4th vertebrae. She was in excruciating pain. She was put under heavy meds for days. We dont know what happened, but she was unable to move from the neck down. After a few weeks, the doctors moved my mom to Leahi Rehabilitaion Center. This is where she would finish her cycle of antibiotics to hopefully get rid of the infection and gain back her ability to move. Well things got worse and she started to swell, her whole body. She was transported to Straub were they said that her liver was under distress and that was the cause for her swelling. All pain medication needed to be stopped. When she went back to Leahi, she was then diagnosed with pneumonia. My mom was transfered to Kuakini Hospital where she stayed until her pneumonia was gone. About a week ago, my moms medical picc line was finally removed. She is now back at Leahi. Even though her swelling has gone down, and she has movement in her arms, unfortunately she still cannot walk. She is also still doing many blood tests to make sure all her infection is gone. She is now receiving rehab.
My mom has taken over custody of my 10 year old niece for the past years. Being that she has been in the hospital since December, she can not take care of her. Fortunately her boyfriend, Willie Hose, has taken on the responsibilty of taking care of her, as well as some friends and family. He also drives EVERYDAY to see my mom, from Kapolei all the way to Kaimuki, which is like an hour away.
I am trying to raise money for my mothers medical expenses, as well as money to help care for my niece, and vehicle expenses. We are in no rush for the funds. We actually have no goal for the amount of money. We are just asking for a little help.
Everyones support in helping my mother is so much appreciated. My mom is a person who always gives. She has given so much to me, my children and my brothers and sister, along with many others. I just want a chance to be able to help her with one of the most hardest times of her life. We dont know how long it will take her to fully recover, we just are praying for the best outcome.
