Salvage Adam's Hard Drive

For the past 17 years, I've been collecting game show videos as a hobby. A series of life events, like having to move from apartment to apartment and sharing a home with four other people, means that space is precious. A few years ago, I moved my entire collection onto an external hard drive so I'd have a little more room. I didn't buy a back-up external hard drive because I didn't want to spend an extra three hundred dollars.

So two weeks ago, I got what I deserved for that decision.

After a not-particularly-impressive incident where I tripped over the power cord, and the hard drive toppled about 2 1/2 feet from a desk onto a carpeted surface, the external drive went chaput.

Since I now depend on this external hard drive for researching books, I can say with a straight face that it's not merely a hobby at this point. This really is a business for me, and now I'm turning to all of you, in this forum where I can thankfully avoid eye contact, to ask for money to cover the costs of repairing the drive and recovering whatever data has survived.

The $2500 covers the cost of the initial repair plus part of the cost of a second unit because I've learned my lesson.

Because there is no guarantee of what or how much can be salvaged, I can only ask that you make your donation out of the goodness of your heart.

But ***if*** the repair is successful, once I've been able to ascertain what's been salvaged from the drive, everyone in this campaign who donates at least $50 will be contacted by me at a later date about Dropboxing some goodies your way.
