I am writing to you today on behalf of my brother, Rene Abiera, who tragically suffered a severe car accident on October 17, 2024, near Cambridge, Ontario, when his vehicle collided with a transport truck on Highway 401. Rene is currently receiving treatment in the Neurotrauma ICU at Hamilton General Hospital.

Rene, who moved to Canada two years ago from Taiwan to build a better life for himself and his common-law partner, Tanny Giangan, has always been a hardworking and determined individual. Unfortunately, his life has been upended by this tragic accident.

Despite the doctors’ recommendation to remove his life support, our family strongly believes that Rene is still fighting to survive. Every day, he shows signs of progress, including movement in his hands and feet. Tanny, my mother, and I are all committed to being by his side and providing the care and love he needs to continue his fight.

Our ultimate goal is to bring Rene home to the Philippines, where we can provide him with the best possible care surrounded by his family. We believe that by being in the comfort of our own country, we can offer him the support and attention he deserves during this critical time.
