Our baby boy, Wyatt, was born on February 6th and was taken later that day to the NICU for some jaundice concerns. After 2 hospital transfers and 4 different NICU/PICU moves since birth, he is now at UNC Children’s CCU in Chapel Hill. He is battling issues with extreme jaundice as well as issues with his red and white blood cell counts and the doctors are saying his case is extremely rare. There are many teams of specialists and doctors working on his case with no answers or diagnoses as of now for what is causing these issues.
With the severity of Wyatt’s condition, leaving his side for any amount of time has been unbearable. As a result, James has been out of work and the doctors are saying they have no idea how long we will be here given the uncertainty and lack of answers they are able to provide at this time. We have also been away from our daughter, Hadley, during this time which has been difficult as well. She is so ready to meet her baby brother!
Anyone who knows us knows that asking for help is not something we would ever normally do. Fortunately, we were able to get a room at the Ronald McDonald house but with the initial hotel costs, food, gas, and our normal bills, we decided to create this for anyone that has reached out wanting to help.
We are blessed with such an amazing support system and are grateful for any help we may receive. Once we get past this difficult time and have our little boy healthy and home, we plan to make a donation to the Ronald McDonald house as a way to give back and show our appreciation for their support during this time as well.
