With all the changes that we face this year as a result of COVID-19, and finding a new sense of normalcy, we are very proud of our students and how they are adjusting to all of these changes that have come about. Union would like to celebrate our students’ successes as they navigate through these unprecedented times. We feel, with the help from our community, that we can make a difference in the lives of our students by instilling good values, hard work, and a sense of accomplishment.
As such, we are asking for donations to raise money for our end of the semester, and end of the year, drawing in which we will present students with prizes for a job well done. Students can earn tickets throughout the school year for these drawings in multiple ways. First, students can earn an “Academic Incentive Slip” for any academic success be it a good grade on a test, improvements in a struggling class, completion of homework, participation, or anything else our staff deems worthy of recognition. Secondly, students can earn a “R.A.K Award” for a “random act of kindness.” A “RAK Award” can be earned for any helpful or thoughtful act by a student that demonstrates leadership and/or compassion for others. Examples of such might include, helping a new student find their way to classes, assisting a staff member on a task, helping a classmate with homework, or anything else that is deemed as a thoughtful act to others. These slips will be given by staff members, collected, and put in a drawing for prizes at the culmination of each semester.
We feel that it is imperative to instill a sense of thoughtfulness in our students for something greater than themselves. In order to do so, we are asking for assistance to raise funds for prizes. Our thoughts regarding the prizes include, but are not limited to, electronics, Union swag/apparel, school supplies, catered lunches, and much more!
Union School Corporation would like to thank you for your generosity and support of our students. We look forward to this new partnership with our surrounding community, Union alumni, and all Union supporters!
