Wheelchair Van for Avery
Donation protected
*Fundraiser is currently on hold as we are exploring a potential opportunity*
Hi, I am Averys mom Sabrina, and our family is trying to raise money for a Wheelchair Van to help support her growing needs. Lifting her into a car seat is becoming increasingly hard, as well with taking apart her 60 lb wheelchair and lifting it into the back of a vehicle.
Avery is 6 years old and has severe spastic quad cerebral palsy, hearing loss, tracheomalacia, g-tube for nutrition, and uses a wheelchair full time. She requires assistance with all her needs including feeding and any type of mobility or sitting support.
Averys smile is contageous and everyone around her enjoys her cheerful spirit. She is very outgoing, loves all animals, getting ice cream, and being around kids her age. A van will also allow our respite workers some freedom to take Avery on outings and after school programs.
I have supported Avery as a single mom for most of her life and try to make sure she has the best quality of life possible. That has come with a lot of sacrifice and ups and downs.
Avery has had frequent medical issues that required me taking time from work to focus on her care. Due to this I have been unsuccessful at getting a wheelchair van by financing on my own.
It has not been easy to ask for help, but I have been encouraged by friends and family to reach out to the community for support.
I appreciate any support given, big or small. We have been fortunate to have so many great people help with a fundraiser already and currently have funded 5% of our goal.
By supporting this fundraiser we hope to get a safe and reliable van that will last us many years. A wheelchair converted van costs on average 40% more-a brand new Van costs over 100 000 after conversion. We have decided to look for a used well loved vehicle instead.
Thank you for reading our story.
