Hi, my name is Zhanna. I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but I was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Right now, my family lives in Ukraine. As you all know, Ukraine is currently in a devastating situation, an unjust war with Russia. Week of hiding in the basement with the terror of listening to the bombs throughout the day and night. My family decided to flee to the west of Ukraine, Lviv, where the situation is a bit safer.
Our family consists of five women: my mother, two sisters, my aunt, and my aunt's daughter-in-law. I lost my father just a few years ago to severe illness, so the only man in our family is my cousin. He is at the front lines defending our country from Russian invaders.
Due to most Ukrainians fleeing to the west of the country, finding a home or a rental property is almost impossible. If you do find something, it's unbelievably expensive to rent. To the grace of God, my family had found a small apartment that they barely can afford. My family is facing a hard choice to pay for the apartment or purchase food that can last them for only a couple of days.
On top of all that, my aunt is in remission from cancer, so she needs to take medication that she cannot afford to buy.
I can help with what I have, but I know that will not be enough.
If you or someone you know could spare some money to buy essentials like food, that would mean survival. If you can't afford to donate today, maybe you could help spread this cry for help to someone who can help.
That would mean survival to my family.
This war is unfair to many Ukrainian people, and nobody knows when it's gonna end. Still, I pray that it will end soon and my family will be safe and alive.
A huge thank you for taking time off day to read this message.
Thank you!
Zhanna
