This is David and Donna Nazario, they would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary next month…but unfortunately on Saturday, August 19th, David lost his battle of 22 years to MS (multiple sclerosis). MS can affect a person in many different ways but for David it hit hard and it hit fast. In 2005, David lost the use of his hands and arms which had allowed him to be more independent. He lost the ability to maneuver his wheelchair with his hands, along with other abilities that many of us take for granted. He has lived the last 18 years immobilized and in a lot of pain. When David was plagued with this horrible, slow, life debilitating disease he was self employed and therefore had no disability insurance. Donna resigned from her job at StateFarm to take care of David full time. Donna is one of the most gracious and selfless people I have ever met! She has spent the last 22 years of her life taking care of her husband David, keeping them afloat financially through at home side jobs. Taking care of David was a full time job as she had to do everything for him. She has had countless hours of no sleep because of the agony and pain David would be in throughout the night and the physical exertion of moving him, lifting him and repositioning him has taken a toll on Donna physically as well. Donna’s personal strength to care for David was given to her by the grace of God. She started everyday off fresh and new, but also extremely tired. She never complained and she very rarely ask for help. She just powered through the days. Over the last couple months David’s pain and the sleepless nights got worse by the day. And unfortunately there was not much of anything that could be done to help. On August 19th the pain was so unbearable and other things started happening as well and Donna took David to the hospital…David had lots of things going on and in this time period he had a heart attack and went into septic shock and the Lord felt it was time to bring David home and heal his body. Donna is so thankful that David now has peace and healing, but she is the one still here and has lots to figure out and will need time to transition into finding herself and living her own life again. With that also comes financial burden of funeral expenses and starting over. They have struggled for so long and now all that is left for Donna to absorb alone. Donna has graciously devoted the last 22 years of her life taking care of her husband and I am hoping that we can now graciously take care of her and help her get back on her feet and help make this transition into her own life a little easier. All donations big and small add up and everything helps! Thank you in advance for your support.
