Still Fighting: My Journey Through Stage 3 high risk cytogenic multiple myeloma Cancer

As many of you know, my battle began in March 2024. What started as stage zero cancer rapidly progressed to stage three, and life changed in an instant. I haven’t posted many updates lately—not because I’ve stopped fighting, but because I’ve been deep in the whirlwind, trying to find my footing in a reality that keeps shifting beneath me.

In the beginning, we held onto hope. The plan was a six-month cycle of chemotherapy, followed by a less aggressive maintenance schedule. We knew I’d be in treatment for the rest of my life, but we believed we’d have breathing room—space to heal, to adjust, to live.

But at the six-month mark, our hopes were shaken. The cancer isn’t slowing. My doctors told us we can’t move to maintenance. Instead, we must continue with the aggressive regimen: three weeks of infusion chemotherapy, one week off, and oral chemotherapy seven days a week.

Receiving that news was devastating. I retreated inward, trying to process the weight of it all. Then came another blow—a letter from my doctor outlining my survival rate. Three years. And I’m already nearly one year in.

That was a hard pill to swallow.

But I haven’t given up.

I’m still here. Still fighting. Still trying to find light in the dark. My body is growing weaker. My heart is struggling. We’ve had to make changes to our home and routines to help me move around and manage daily life. It’s humbling. It’s painful. And it’s not easy to ask for help.

We’ve always been the ones helping others—supporting our community, showing up for those in need. Now, we find ourselves on the other side, needing support more than ever. That’s not easy to admit. But here we are.

We’re doing our best to make the most of the time I have left. Every day is a gift. Every kind word, every donation, every prayer—means the world to us.

Thank you for holding us in your hearts. I promise to be better about sharing updates. Your love gives me strength.

With gratitude and hope,
Brandy
