Nathaniel's Study Abroad in Zambia

Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,
Now that I am finishing up my third year of college here at Davidson, I have been blessed with many opportunities. I never thought I would be given the chance to study abroad, but I have been blessed to be able to go on an abroad experience in Zambia, Africa. This four week experience will take place during the month of July '15 and I am thrilled to be spending my time with the Zambian people. What makes it more exciting is that my trip is centered around exposure to health care delivery and public health at the United Church of Zambia Mission Hospital.
I fell in love with this trip because for me becoming a physician is more than practicing medicine, it is service. As a minority student I have been blessed to have many people pour positively into my life and expose me to success but in reality there are many minority youth in urban communities that grow up without many exposures to what it takes to be successful. As a doctor I seek to become a strong and positive reference point for minorities that have limited exposure to success in the medical field, and I know that the Davidson in Mwandi study abroad program will provide me with a unique opportunity to dive deep into a rich culture and gain valuable experience. The experience that I will gain will be a resourceful tool that will add immeasurable insight to my understanding of culture. I hope to develop new skills, by interacting with different types of people, and learn how to grow in uncomfortable positions. The Davidson in Mwandi experience will ultimately increase my understanding of global health and positively impact the way I serve and contribute to society in the future.
Please lend your financial support to me in any way possible by clicking the link below and donating$1, $5, $10, $25, ...$100...etc. It would mean the world to me, to go to Zambia, I appreciate your support!
