My name is Corey Olmstead. I’m a 46-year-old U.S. Navy veteran, a husband, and a father. I’m asking for help because my family is facing an immediate housing crisis.
Several years ago, I was involved in a serious car accident during a heavy snowstorm while driving to work. I nearly lost my life. Since then, I have been diagnosed with PTSD, which includes a severe phobia of winter weather, especially snowstorms. This condition is not related to my military service, but it has had a major impact on my daily life and safety.
Recently, while I was at work at Redemption Botanicals, heavy snow began falling. With a 45-minute commute and the risk of another dangerous situation, my PTSD symptoms escalated quickly. Fearing for my safety, I made the decision to leave work early to get ahead of the storm and make it home safely. As a result, I was terminated from my job, despite the medical nature of my condition.
My wife is disabled, and our 2-year-old child has the same disability. My wife is unable to work, and my income was our only financial support. Losing my job so suddenly has left us facing the very real possibility of becoming homeless.
The funds raised will be used to:
Prevent homelessness and maintain housing
Cover basic living expenses
Support the care and needs of my disabled wife and child
Give me time to continue treatment and secure new employment
Asking for help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but I am doing this to protect my family. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can offer.
With sincere gratitude,
Corey Olmstead
