The Navajo Nation, if considered as its own state, has the 3rd highest incidence of Covid-19 in the United States, after New York and New Jersey. Approximately 40% of Navajo families on the reservation live without running water or electricity in the home, and for many of these traditional families, multiple generations reside under a single roof, including babies, children, and vulnerable elders. It is especially difficult to prevent Covid-19 from spreading from a single exposed person to the whole family when there is no running water for handwashing, and there may not be a separate bedroom or bathroom for the infected family member to use for isolation. These traditional Navajo households desperately need hand sanitizer, face masks, gloves, and household cleaning products to protect the extended family when their Covid+ loved one comes home from the ER or hospital to recover.
Please donate whatever you can. All funds go directly to the purchase of supplies that are delivered to the homes of affected Navajo families. Acquisition of these life-saving supplies is coordinated by medical personnel affiliated with the reservation hospitals caring for Navajo Covid patients, and distribution is being carried out by the Navajo Nation Community Health Workers who make home visits to affected Navajo families.
Your donation will help save Navajo lives!
