Help us fight eviction

My name is Christiana. I'm older and disabled. I have a teen who has Tourette's and severe anxiety from being in a mall shooting when she was 12. She lives with me. She has a small emotional support dog and a bearded dragon.

For a long time, I couldn't work a normal job. So we lived off my retirement account and whatever work I was able to do online. My retirement account no longer exists. And the online work stopped paying.

As soon as I was able to physically work, I started looking for a job. When I finally got one, it took about a month to get all the paperwork and onboarding done. So I fell one month behind in the rent and utilities. One month. I've paid all the months since then. It's just that one month.

I asked the landlord if I could pay it off in installments and he said no. He is demanding immediate payment of that one month or he's evicting us. If we don't fight him on the eviction, he'll give us 30 days to leave. If we do fight him on it, he wants us out immediately.

His justification is that it's not fair to him that he has to pay more in rent for his son's apartment -- on the West side, by UCLA and the ocean! -- than he charges us for rent. (We're paying $2450 a month for a one-bedroom with a divider. And we don't live anywhere near any ocean.)

I need to get him the money asap for that one month to have any hope of stopping the eviction. If we get evicted, we'll never be able to rent anywhere. Our only option would be to live in our car.

I hate asking for money, but I don't know what else to do. My parents have both passed away, so I can't ask them for help. And unfortunately, it seems my job started one month too late.

I don't know if you can find it in your heart to donate anything. I hope you do. I really hate being in this position. I hate that we have to ask for donations. Especially since I know how much everyone is struggling right now. I just don't know what else to do.
