Grass lawns cover an estimated 40 to 50 million acres in the United States. These lawns use around 9 billion gallons of water a day, as well as requiring millions of pounds of pesticides. These pesticides often wash into streams and contaminate our groundwater. Native plants represent an eco-friendly alternative to residential lawn space. Local flora require significantly less water, minimize the need for pesticides, and boost local diversity. Every donation helps expand our efforts of replacing controlled grass lawns with self-sustainable native flora, significantly reducing the amount of water used in our communities.
