Hello,
This fundraiser is on Behalf of the Movimiento Peralvillenses Ausentes. We are a non-Profit organization, and our mission is to help the less fortunate enjoy a better quality of life and help preserve a healthy environment.
At this time, we are asking for donations to fund a camp-out activity this April 2nd-4th in a small town in Monte Plata, Dominican Republic. This activity aims to educate the residents about the dangers of a Tail Dam that the Canadian Mining company Barrick Gold plans to build in a spot where seven main rivers of the region are born. The tail dam will be the destination for Chemical waste, including Cyanide, which will destroy the community water source, the soil, and the community health in general. We already saw this happen in Pueblo Viejo, another Monte Plata town, which Barrick Gold abandoned after their mining project. We must prevent this from happening again.
As you can see, this tail dam's construction poses a great danger for the province of Monte Plata and its surrounding area, including Santo Domingo. This community needs our help.
The donations collected will be used to cover the cost of the three days camping event and legal fees and permits.
The main cost we need to cover:
Legal representation
Permits
Transportation
Gas
Power Generators
A projector
Speakers and microphones
Camping tents
Patio tents
Repellent lamps
Flashlights
Three days worth of food
Utensils
Water, coffee, and cacao
Any donations will be much appreciated,
