On October 29, 2024, Valencia experienced what is now known as the greatest natural disaster in Spain’s history.
This climate disaster affected 69 municipalities, impacting a population of over 800,000 people. Within the affected municipalities, including districts of the capital of Turia, there are 54,289 businesses, 123 business parks, and more than 354,000 workers, representing 33.5% of the province’s workforce.
To date, there have been over 200 reported deaths and hundreds of missing persons.
This catastrophic event has mobilized the entire community to organize and take action to support those affected. More than 15,000 volunteers from across Spain have come to the impacted areas to assist.
At Santiago Apostle Parish, we have established an aid center to store, organize, and distribute resources efficiently. We have more than 1,050 volunteers working in groups, who are helping daily with distribution, debris removal, and cleaning in zone 0.
Parishes in the affected areas have become key distribution points for humanitarian aid. At Santiago Apostle, we are coordinating closely with other parishes in zone 0. A distribution center has been established in Catarroja, from which over 2,000 meals are sent daily.
We kindly ask for your support in this cause through donations. All funds will be used entirely to meet the urgent needs of affected individuals, including food aid, materials, and connections with professionals (such as architects, psychologists, electricians, etc.), during this time of extreme need. Funds will also help foster social and economic recovery in the region.
Thank you very much in advance.
