I respectfully ask for your donation to help me purchase the property to fulfill my dream of opening a Natural Retreat that will provide a welcoming, safe space for those seeking renewal and inspiration. The Natural Retreat is intended as a private gathering place for adults and will specialize in offering self-care services for women and opportunities to pursue and share their gifts. I’m asking for your help because my business partner recently became ill and had to withdraw her financial support to fully focus on her recovery.
My dream to open the Natural Retreat was inspired by the amazing group of intelligent, compassionate women who I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by on a regular basis. We come from a wide variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, and careers, but are all the primary breadwinners in our households. We are Women of the World (WOW) and we share the belief that caring for ourselves is a requirement, not a luxury, in order to be able to care for others. We have formed a tribe whose members put themselves first without apology, encourage one another, and celebrate each other’s successes and strengths without jealousy.
During discussions at our monthly dinners, we realized that there was a common need for a private, safe place to rejuvenate ourselves by experiencing nature, developing and sharing our life skills, practicing self-care, and rediscovering what brings us joy and peace. The Natural Retreat is designed to fill this need. All genders will be welcome, and the activities, workshops, and services will be catered to women to support their well-being and pursue their passions.
I became a single mother at 19 and raised my daughter. My daughter’s education was my top priority, and I was grateful to be able to send her to Sacramento’s best schools by volunteering on campus. Although I sometimes struggled to make ends meet, particularly when my daughter was young, I still made time for my passions, including acrylic painting, which I had learned in high school. I wanted to show my daughter that even when life is challenging, it is important to dedicate time to the things that bring you joy. I started with painting a few personal pieces, which were admired by friends, and it blossomed into painting commissioned pieces for friends’ homes and businesses. Being able to support myself and my daughter by doing something that I loved was magical, and my hope is that the workshops offered at the Natural Retreat will inspire guests to learn new skills or rediscover their gifts.
The Natural Retreat will be located in the beautiful oak woodlands of the foothills in Placer County, within 30 miles of downtown Sacramento and Sacramento International Airport. Once vetted, guests will be able to enjoy day use of the grounds and facilities, and there will be luxurious accommodations (one indoor, one outdoor) for those who wish to stay overnight. Guests will also be able to choose among a variety of activities to relax, learn, and connect with nature, including meditation, nature walks, and workshops (e.g., financial planning, edible gardening).
I have developed a detailed business plan for the Natural Retreat that is based on an established, effective model, as I have started and run several successful businesses. My more than 20 years of professional experience has been focused on improving the quality of life for others, both at the individual and community levels, and I will continue that commitment at the Natural Retreat.
My daughter has graduated from high school and is working her way through college to pursue a law degree. I am now able to pursue my dream of opening the Natural Retreat. I have been saving money to purchase the property for the Natural Retreat, and your donation will be used solely for that purpose. My fellow WOW members support me. I am working with a real estate agent and broker to identify potential properties and started the processes of obtaining the necessary permits/approvals/licenses from Placer County. Once the property has been acquired, we will complete those processes and initiate the development.
Those who donate now will be first on the list to be invited to exclusive events once doors open.
Thank you for supporting the dream to create a safe, beautiful, healthy space to help others relax, rejuvenate, and rediscover our passions.
