Natti's Disability Care Fund

Hi, wonderful community!
My name is Wit and I'm organizing this fundraiser for my dear friend, Natti. She is a disabled community activist/advocate, life-partner, has two grown strong & beautiful "mamas", and is an abuela & sister. She is currently requesting financial assistance to help cover the cost of her necessary medications, appointment co-pays, supplement's, transportation and additional out of pocket costs.
I am organizing this fund on her behalf as her brain and body unpredictably inhibit her ability to do it herself. She is a powerful and sweet person and I believe that we can help meet her needs, as a community.
Natti was diagnosed with FMS (fibromyalgia) in 2009 and due to her illness, which has had (at times debilitating) impacts on her physical, emotional, and cognitive health, she has been unable to work consistently.
Natti once told me, "I have already gone through the grieving process... [of] accepting [and] reestablishing goals and expectations for myself when it comes to living my life as a chronically ill person... Ideally, if I was able to work or support myself I would do what it is that I can when I can for the community..."
Some of her previous community work included curating content and making education and literature more widely available, including Doula Zine's a guide for naturopathic reproductive health and contraceptive resources; a Self-love Packet/Workbook for Women of Color, had worked alongside a talented artivist translating Covid-19 information into a dozen Mexican indigenous languages. She still continues, when her body & mind have the capacity, using a creative skillset making fliers and digital content for community collectives & individuals
Natti lives with the following diagnoses:
- cervical spondylosis
- Degenerative Disc Disease & pinched disc C3-C6
- FMS
- recurrent complex ovarian cyst
- CRPS type 1 lower left extremity
- severe upper and lower GI issues
- neuro-immune disease
- TMJ (temporomandibular joint dysfunction)
- PFD (pelvic floor disorder)
- cyst in 3rd right ventricle of the brain
- restricted spinal fluid flow in the cervical region of the spine
- bipolar with depression
- severe anxiety
-high pain scale 7-10 that is frequently treatment-resistant
This fund is designed to cover her medical and pain management costs for one year. It will go directly to purchasing medications, healing services & related out of pocket costs needed to manage her illnesses. Her usual sources of financial support have changed (and are in a continued state of instability and fluctuation) , affecting her ability to afford her care this last month, yet her needs remain. We are asking for either monthly financial assistance or a one-time donation to help cover the cost of her care for the next year so that Natti can continue to access the treatments and critical close health management including medications she needs (averaging just over $200 a month with insurance factored in).
In addition to the monthly average costs, unpredicted expenses do arise (as they do for all of us) if you are interested in giving outside of the monthly gofundme campaign you can scroll down & there are other ways of contributing support
Natti is an incredibly kind and generous soul. I have known her since childhood when she would babysit me and my siblings, and she has always given so freely. When she has the capacity, she is the first to offer assistance, time, and resources to those who need it. There have been many occasions when she has helped me and it would mean the world if together we could raise enough to cover her medical costs for the next year. She does have health insurance, but her bills are high and she is forced to pay out of pocket for many of the medications (as well as supplements & alternative modalities) that she needs on a daily basis.
Like many disabled community advocates, Natti is endlessly compassionate, brilliant, and loving. She is a gift to her loved ones and various communities and deserves full access to the healthcare and quality of well-being that she needs to live well. Thank you for reading this.
