Natomas Families Helping Families 2021

Dear Natomas Unified/Natomas Communities, Families, and Friends,

During this time of year, most of us are fortunate enough to be able to celebrate the holidays in the comfort of our homes with friends and family and all of our basic needs met. Unfortunately, that is not the case for all of our families in Natomas. Some are experiencing extreme financial hardship and are having a tough time with providing permanent shelter, enough food, and basic needs for their families. Whether the hardship is due to the pandemic or other issues, these are our neighbors and children’s classmates, and they need our help.

The Natomas Schools Foundation (NSF) has partnered with the district once again to seek help from our community to raise $15,000 to provide a few weeks of shelter (including the Winter Break), food, and necessities for some of our families in need. Last year, our community was successful at generating just over $33,000 to support 20 families with 49 NUSD students. The families we helped last year are in a better place today through your kindness. Let’s come together to do it again and help a new group of families.

One of the things we love about Natomas is that when our fellow residents need help, our community steps up. We also go beyond our boundaries and generate help. Last year, we had donations as far away as New York, Maryland, Florida, and Louisiana. We ask that you please share this information with your friends and family in and outside of Natomas.

Thank you in advance for your support, and we wish you a joyous holiday season of giving and cherished time with family and friends.

Sonia Mercado,
NSF President

Chris Evans,
NUSD Superintendent
