SEEdS is a S.T.E.A.M. enrichment program at Sunnyside Elementary school in San Francisco. SEEdS' main objective is to teach urban youth the Next Generation Science Standards through hands on activities. Our passion is to instill stewardship by providing meaningful experiences with the natural environment.
This year our fourth grade students are engaged in a project based curriculum. Students are designing a California native plant garden to replace an older garden we lost during school renovations.
This project requires students to think like a landscape architect and provide a solution to a real world problem. Students are learning about the local ecology of San Francisco, how to express their ideas through art, and collaborate with classmates.
We want to take this project to the next level by installing the student designed garden. We need your financial support to make this installation possible.
What will we do with the funds?
$1300.00 - California Native Plants
$700.00 - Garden Materials: Mulch, Stepping Stones, etc.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Remember, this garden will provide Sunnyside students a place to develop a positive relationship with the natural environment. It will be used by many students for years to come. Imagine students sitting in the garden writing poetry, measuring leaves, identifying creatures, painting, or just enjoying a quiet spot to think. These spaces are important for our urban youth to experience. Help SEEdS make it a reality!
