Hi folks, my name is Alice. I'm an enrolled member of the Little Shell Tribe of Montana, a Blackfeet descendent, and also come from the Métis people of Canada. I have worked in electoral politics and nonprofit spaces since graduating from the University of Montana in 2019 and have had the opportunity to engage in work around the courts, pro-democracy issues, and voting rights throughout the state.
This work has strengthened my resolve in many ways to pursue a legal education with the focus of working in civil rights. I have some big aspirations to attend law school outside of Montana and bring back that knowledge and the connections to my home state. However, in order to do that, it's important that I aim to get a 170 or above on the law school admissions test (the LSAT).
In August of 2021, I took the LSAT for the first time and received a 163 without much preparation. There's a program, TestMasters Online Prep Course, that I have had the opportunity to test and hear from people who have used the resource which I hope to be able to use to prepare to take the LSAT in June 2024. With this prep course and dedicated time to study and take the test, I am excited to work towards a score that would allow me to likely attend law school with scholarship and financial aid offers that would realistically allow me to attend and work in spaces afterwards without feeling the need to sell my soul to pay off law school debt.
The prep course is $1275 and would start in February 2024. The registration fee for the LSAT is between $200-300 depending on a few factors and after that, there are additional costs to apply to law schools. I do not qualify for the fee waiver to take the LSAT but am also in an in-between space where this level of money is not something I can come up with on my own in a couple of months.
I really appreciate any and all help you and your networks are willing to give in supporting me to be a competitive applicant for law school and financial support and I'm looking forward to continuing to use my skills and knowledge to uplift the voices and needs of folks living in the margins of society in Montana.
