Nationals for Kalani

Hi family, friends and community,

As some of you may know or have seen the numerous amounts of posts, Kalani has made the state team for athletics and qualified to compete in Nationals which are to be held in Tasmania on the 23rd - 27th of November 2023.

We are asking for any sort of help and/or donation to go towards her accomodation, flights, food, travel and her uniform.

Any sort of donation will go a long way to supporting her and this amazing achievement.

Just a bit of background of Kalani and her competing this year in the new Multi-class category of athletics.

Kalani was born profoundly deaf and has been wearing cochlear implants (hearing aids) since she was 11 months old. This year being her first year competing in the multi class category in Athletics.

Kalani started of not knowing about this category when she was competing in her cross country race earlier this year. She then made it all the way to District cross country competing with her hearing aids then was thrown into the deep end at Regionals, when she was placed into the multi class and was told she can't run wearing her hearing aids if she wanted to compete.

Kalani was taken back but still tried her hardest, getting to the first turn of the track Kalani broke down into tears overwhelmed with not knowing how or why she had to run without her hearing aids. So she pulled herself out of the competition.

Then came school athletics not long after. This time she participated under the multi class category and each stage of the competition she only got better, having her confidence grow each and every time she competed.

Kalani personally has came a long way from breaking down crying and now confidently running and competing in every sort of event on the field and on the track.

Making it to state for 5 different events.

Which has led her to qualified for 2 events at National. Long jump and 100m.

This is an amazing opportunity for kalani and we don't want her to miss out, as we know that if anyone deserve this, SHE DOES!

We are beyond proud of her and want to give her this opportunity with your help and support.
