What is this for?
This is a World University tournament similar to the Olympics. It is a competition with many sports and fortunately enough for me, my sport is one of them! Rugby 7's will be a game featured at these games and for those that do not know, rugby 7's is a variation of the game that I have played for the last decade of my life. Instead of 15 per side on the field at once it consists of 7 per side which gives more space for the runners of the sport (like myself). The 7's version has been reintroduced into the Olympics where it came back into the spotlight in Rio.
FISU (International University Sports Federation) is a university competition where national teams can select their athletes from across the country to represent what will be the national team. It only applies to athletes that are in their studies. I am currently finishing my Education degree this August meaning I am eligible, and not only am I eligible but I have been one of the selected students of the 12-man roster that will be traveling to Naples in July to compete in the games!
Unfortunately this trip comes with a hefty price of $4500 that will include travel and accommodations. That is why I have set up this gofundme in hopes of raising some money to go towards that price since I'm a student with no job or income!
If anyone would like to donate I would GREATLY appreciate whatever you can spare. Every bit adds up and you can be one of the reasons I get to represent the national university team! :)
