National Thoroughbred Week (20–24 November 2025) is a brand new initiative across Australia and New Zealand that celebrates the incredible Thoroughbred horse - not just as an athlete, but as a companion, a teacher, and a vital part of our communities.

For one unforgettable week, we’re throwing open the gates of our breeding farms, training stables, race clubs, veterinary clinics, rehoming organisations and more. Visitors will be able to:

See first-hand the care, passion, and commitment that goes into every stage of a Thoroughbred’s life.

Nuzzle and pat a gentle giant and meet curious foals.

Chat with trainers, vets, and the people who dedicate their lives to horse welfare.

Discover career pathways.

This will be a free event because we believe everyone should be able to connect with these extraordinary horses and the people behind them.

But bringing something of this scale to life takes resources. Your contribution will go directly towards the practical costs of making National Thoroughbred Week happen such as:

Event branding, design and signage so every visitor feels welcome.

Visitor information guides and educational materials.

Website build and maintenance to connect hosts with attendees.

Promotion and advertising to ensure communities across both countries know about this opportunity.

On-the-ground support for our volunteer hosts and their guests.

National Thoroughbred Week is a not-for-profit project run by passionate volunteers from all facets of the Thoroughbred industry. We’re not tied to any one association or authority, just a group of horse lovers who believe it’s time to show the public the heart of the Thoroughbred world.
