Natimuk & District Gymnastics Fire Recovery

update from the club. We have raised nearly $10k which is awesome but it’s going to be a very long road back to having a functional gym!
if you can donate or share, it would be great to get more money flowing.
Club Update After the Fires
Right now, our gym cannot open and we do not have a reopening date as yet. At this stage, we expect the facility will likely be out of action for the rest of Term 1 and there is no real certainty around time frames that we can share. We want to be back just as much as you do and we are working through every possible option.
How You Can Help
Temporary Training Space
We are exploring spaces to keep training going. We need roughly “basketball court” size at minimum with toilet access, and somewhere we can safely leave equipment set up for safety reasons. It must be secure and high ceilings would be ideal. If you can help, or have a contact please contact us.
Fundraising Help
The extended closure means no income while outgoing costs continue. In the coming months, we will be calling on our community to support fundraising efforts. Every contribution helps reduce the long term financial impact on the club.
Speak Up
Contact your local MPs. Tell them how much your children miss gym. Tell them our club needs support. Make some noise and share our posts to help spread the word.
❤️ Please Be Patient
Our facility is not safe to use right now.
Our volunteer committee and our coaches are doing everything they can during a very hard time. Please continue to show patience and kindness while we work through this.
**********************************************************
The Natimuk and District Gymnastics Club is a unique , community run sporting club providing exception coaching and a fully equipped gymnastics facility in the Wimmera for athletes of all ages.
The club is the hub of the community with more than 300 registered members located in Natimuk (which only has a population of 500!)
During the recent Bushfire which burned so much of Natimuk on Friday 9th January, the building was saved (thanks to the amazing CFA) however damage caused by heat, smoke and ash has left the gym unusable and the volunteer committee scrambling to re-establish the 60 year old club and provide a safe space for the local kids get back to what they love doing most....gymnastics!
Whilst the club is insured, it is unclear whether the insurance will cover the replacement of all equipment losses and will not compensate the club for the losses associated with being closed.
The gymnastics community is small so I am appealing to all those who love the sport to contribute what they can to get these kids back to training as soon as possible.
All money raised will be used to replace damaged equipment, pay for building repairs and support the expected increase in future insurance premiums.
