Nathan’s Network

Nathaniel means "God has given” or “gift from God” and Nathan has certainly lived his life in that manner. He is a giver, not a taker and asking anything for himself is just not in his DNA. Right now he needs our help and so we will ask for him.
Nathan has been diagnosed with metastatic tonsil cancer. Anyone who has ever had a doctor tell you that you have cancer understands the flood of emotions that accompanies a diagnosis like this. It is overwhelming and all consuming at best. Now, imagine being told that you have cancer when you don’t have health insurance. Every consultation with a doctor, every test, every part of the treatment that you need to save your life has to be paid out of pocket. That would be daunting for the wealthiest people. As an example, one shot that he must have in order to leave the hospital after his first week of induction chemo is $10,000.
Assumptions are made about people with no health insurance when they probably shouldn’t be. Nathan doesn’t have health insurance because of his giving heart. His mom was diagnosed with cancer just as his brother had begun Dental School. When a decision needed to be made about a caregiver, Nathan did not hesitate to put his life and hopes and dreams on hold to fill that void so that his brother could pursue what he had worked hard for. Caring for a chronically ill family member doesn’t come with a salary and health benefits. The only perk that Nathan ever hoped for was for his loved ones to be well and thrive.
It’s Nathan’s turn to feel cared for so that he can fully concentrate on fighting the good fight. Anyone who knows him, knows his precious heart and if we could, we would happily take this challenge from him. He accepts that this is part of God’s plan for him but if we can make it easier by relieving some of the financial burden then that would be a huge blessing. We realize that times are tough for everyone so no contribution is too small and our prayer is that everyone who is able to help will be blessed in a mighty way. We also pray that you know that your prayers and emotional support are greatly appreciated.
They say that having a positive mental outlook is half of the battle and every single act of kindness has touched Nathan deeply. He has always been the quiet, “stay in the background” member of Team Yerton and he has never wanted to be the focus. Although this isn’t the way that anyone would want to have a light shone on them, it is his turn now. When he acknowledges that “people really do care about me”, with tears in his eyes, we are helping him win this battle. Thank you so much for giving our request consideration ❤️
