Nathan’s journey to better health

Donation protected
Nathan Webster is a smart, funny, and courageous  12 year old who will be starting 8th grade this coming school year.  Nathan was born with VATER Association and has already undergone many major surgeries.  As he has gotten older, his health has deteriorated, and he is now in need of  more surgeries which will take place in Ohio this summer. The purpose of this fundraiser is to offer financial assistance to the Webster family while Nathan and his mom are in Ohio. The cost of flying out for pre-op appointments and the cost for housing and a rental car for almost a month is quite expensive. Nathan’s mom Laura, will be with him the entire time while in Ohio so she will obviously not be working. The intent of this gofund me  is to offer support to this wonderful family while they are going through this. Their only thoughts should be of Nathan’s recovery, not of the costs associated with living out of state for so long and the loss of wages for taking care of your son while he recuperates. Any donation, no matter how small will be much appreciated. It would be wonderful if the Webster’s family and friends, along with the Averill Park community, could come together to support this amazing family. There will be a “Best Wishes Parade” on Friday, July 24th at 6PM. This is a drive by honk/wave type of parade. The parade route from the firehouse is only a few miles and the race car/specialty car loop is only about a mile. If interested in participating, family and friends should meet at the West Sand Lake firehouse at 5:30PM. There will be an ice cream truck (donating 100% of the profits) at the firehouse from 5-6. Race cars/specialty cars should meet at the Town of Sand Lake Public works building on Springer Rd in West Sand Lake by 5:45 the latest. The fire department will lead the parade as we all spread good cheer to Nathan and his family. Hope to see you there! Update from Laura on 7/22 after first trip to OR. Thank you all so much for donating to help offset the cost of Nathan’s most recent medical trips. Plans may be changing and the doctors are going to try a less invasive procedure next week to see if that gives Nathan the help he needs with his airway. This procedure will be less invasive and will require less time in Ohio after surgery. In the event that procedure fails (all the prayers that it doesn’t) the doctor will move on to the reconstruction he had originally planned. He doesn’t want to do the reconstruction if he doesn’t have to and he said after looking at his airway this is worth a try. With all that being said you all have donated so much money to us all. I don’t want any of you to feel misled in what you were donating towards. We appreciate the generosity all of you have shown. The plan is to use the money for travel/lodging and food while we are gone. If the stars align and he doesn’t need the much larger surgery coming with a longer stay, we would like to donate any leftover money to a charity of Nathan’s choice. If for whatever reason you aren’t comfortable with this feel free to contact us or the campaign organizer for a full refund.
