This journey began back in October of 2014, when it was discovered that Nathan had a mass behind his left eye that was pushing it out of his eye socket. Biopsies were inconclusive and he was treated with steroids and the mass disappeared. The mass came back and another biopsy was done with still no clear answer. There were and stronger longer steroids. The mass went away by end of January 2015. In March of 2015, the mass came back. More scans, tests, another biopsy, a second opinion at UCSF, all to come to the conclusion that Nathan has a very rare form of Lymphoma. The journey continues...
This week Nathan had a PET Scan, a bone marrow tap, a CT scan, and was admitted to the Kaiser Pediatric facility in Roseville, CA, for a minimum of one week, possibly two, as he had a central line put in and a spinal tap to begin chemo. This first round of chemo began and was very intense, and the reason for the admission is they want to watch for possible kidney and heart failure. Other side effects include loss of hair, appetite, taste, nausea, 25% possible sterility, possible long term heart damage. Please pray against side effects and for effective treatment.
This treatment will last for two to three years with many trips and stays at the hospital due to the intense chemo he is receiving to combat the lymphoma since it is a rare form, both through the central line and through a spinal tap. It includes a 120 mile round trip for the family, not to mention the costs associated with Nathan’s hospital stay and missed work to care for him.
Sarah and Don also have two other sons, Caleb and Micah. We are asking for help to defray the costs of Nathan’s treatment and so that his parents can be with him through this. We are also asking that you keep Nathan and his family in your prayers as we believe our God is a Great God!
