Sponsored Walk in memory of Nathan Worner.

Our friend Alison Blackwell lost her beautiful son Nathan Worner to suicide on 4th May 2020. Nathan, who was a serving soldier and a rifleman in the British army, tragically took his own life following a battle with mental illness. He was just 20 years old.

Nathan has been laid to rest at Westerleigh in Bristol. The family would desperately love to have a memorial area there, especially for Nathan, at his graveside. A special place for family and friends to visit and remember him. The army has very kindly donated a bench for the memorial but is unable to finance the lease for the plot, which is £2,700.

On Saturday 11th October 2025, Ali, along with family and friends, have organised a 10 mile memorial walk from Salisbury to Bulford barracks, where Nathan was based.

As friends of Ali, we are hoping that by doing this memorial walk, we can raise enough money to provide her and the family a special place to sit and simply spend time with Nathan, in the only way they are now able to. Nathan was such a special person who gave so much to the world and asked for so little in return, and he deserves to have a place dedicated to his memory. We would love to not only make this possible for Ali and the family but also in the process, raise vital awareness for suicide prevention.

Mental health challenges, including PTSD caused directly by military service, are sadly at crisis point with suicide rates at an all-time high within the veteran community. We would desperately love to give something back to veterans who willingly risked their lives in the military and are now struggling with the aftermath of their service. We owe them so much.

Any donations to support us in our memorial walk would be greatly appreciated, however small. If we are lucky to raise more than needed, the surplus will be donated to Combat Stress, the UK's leading veterans' mental health charity. (This was Nathan's chosen charity for a skydive fundraiser he sadly never got to do.)
