Less than eight weeks ago, our CBK teammate, friend and father-of-two, Nathan, was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer after emergency surgery to remove tumours in his brain. His recovery encountered a significant setback just before Christmas when Nathan’s organs began shutting down due to sepsis and he was placed on life support.
While Nathan is now off life support, he’s not out of the woods yet. He will need several rounds of aggressive chemotherapy and likely an extended stay in hospital to minimise the risk of further complications.
Those who know Nathan know that he is an incredibly kind and generous person. Whether a teammate, friend, father, brother, boss, colleague, and partner, Nathan is a humble man who willingly shows up for those around him without ever expecting a thing in return. As a small business owner, Nathan’s work ethic knows no bounds - early in his journey, he was stubbornly working from his hospital bed while hooked up to his chemotherapy machine - but he has had to cease work to focus on his treatment. His wonderful partner, Charmaine, has taken leave from work to support Nathan while also taking care of their two young children, Audrey (4) and Philippe (almost 2).
Nathan would never ask for help, but our goal is to rally around him and his family, to show up for him the way he shows up for us. Contributions will assist the family with hospital parking, fuel, groceries, bills, and other daily expenses to lessen the financial stress - keeping food on the table while allowing Nathan to focus solely on the next phase of his recovery, and his family to spend time navigating this difficult chapter together.
Any donation is appreciated, no matter how small - even $10 will get us closer to our goal. Please let’s dig deep and help Nathan and his family get through this.
