Nathan Krepp - Aortic Dissection

24th of June, Kreppy’s birthday. A birthday too young to be talking about Kreppy being in ICU.

So whilst it’s too young a birthday to want to think about these things, financial needs don’t go away.

Kreppy’s lovely wife Lou is having to make life affecting decisions on how to best care for Nath, herself and their 2 young kids, both mentally and financially.

From the many comments on social media and texts sent, I know many people are wanting to be able to assist and we’re setting up this page as an avenue to do that. All proceeds will go to Lou to spend however she feels best.

I’d like to think we can at least get them 10 weeks of rent paid to start with & then go from there to really allow the family to heal.  Let's get this going today, so Lou is in the best possible place to get on with caring for Kreppy & their lovely kids.

If you can’t contribute at this time, we understand, please keep Nathan, Lou, Eils, Jules and Nathan & Lou’s kids in your thoughts and do what you can to share this campaign, either through a like, comment, share or offline through a text / sharing it with people that you know care for Kreppy.

So it actually seems right to kick this off on his birthday, whilst our mate Kreppy is fighting for his life in ICU after a sudden, uncommon/unexpected issue with a blood vessel (aorta) near his heart. Let’s do this and take away the financial concerns for Lou whilst Kreppy is in for the fight of his life.

For those who haven’t heard, below’s a bit of a timeline in the last few days. These are the posts from Lou. As of today, the 24th of June - Kreppy's birthday - he is fighting off pneumonia.

Nath had been experiencing a bit of ill health over the last month. Nothing that the doctors at Gosford Hospital could put their fingers on, but Nath was happy that it was all being investigated. Over the weekend (13/14th June 2020) he felt really poorly and saw his GP first thing Monday (15th June 2020) morning who sent him to emergency. He was then put on a helicopter and flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and operated on immediately.

He has an aortic dissection and underwent 16 hours of heart surgery overnight on Monday/Tuesday. His kidneys have failed and he is on dialysis. His chest remains open so that they can monitor the bleeding. He is in a coma and the doctors will not know if he has suffered a stroke until they take him out of the coma. He was operated on last night again to have a clot removed from his leg.

His condition is critical but stable. The surgeon is hoping to close his chest back up tonight or tomorrow. They won’t attempt to wake him up for a few days yet.

On Thursday (16th June 2020) surgery was done to close the chest. Scans were done and all looks good, no signs of stroke or damage to the brain and organs but may be too soon to tell if there is anything BUT great news for now. Blood pressure meds have reduced. He is still stable.

Thursday 16th June 2020 in the afternoon, Nath is responding to my voice, turning his head and trying to open his eyes. He's still sedated but he's responding to Nurses when they say "don’t move your legs".
He's breathing on his own but has the ventilator to help. He is very swollen. His leg is still open and he may need a skin graft later
He has low platelets so he is getting bloods and help with platelets (they help your blood clot). A very long road to recovery ahead but so far so good.

He is waking a lot easier now. Probably trying to get a stronger dose of meds.

Saturday 20th June 2020 update, Nathan is very alert today. Understands what's going on, knows I'm here. Probably spewing about missing Saturday racing
He is comfortable although his leg is probably causing the most pain.  They will see how he goes without dialysis soon.

On Sunday the 21st of June 2020, intubation (ventilator) has been removed. Nath is pretty comfortable and sleeping well.

At the morning of Tuesday the 23rd of June 2020, he has difficulty breathing/low oxygen  Still in ICU and still on dialysis. He has ongoing pain with his leg which will most likely need skin grafting

On the afternoon of Tuesday 23rd June 2020, unfortunately, Nathan was diagnosed with pneumonia and he is quite delirious.
